Blacksmith Shop

The Blacksmith's Shop is an Indiana Blacksmiths Association (http://www.indianablacksmithing.org/) Satellite and partners with the Jennings County Historical Society. The working blacksmith shop, located just north of the Historical Society's headquarters, is maintained and used by local smithy Ray Sease and other artisans. Ray demonstrates the art of pounding rough iron into unique items during the Civil War Reenactment and Tea Festival. It meets the first Saturday of every month April-November. It opens for additional hours during festivals and events hosted by the Jennings County Historical Society and the town of Vernon. Additionally, its members provide support for school tours conducted by the Historical Society and training for future artisans. Phone the Society for additional information 812-346-8989 or email us at jenningcountyhistoricalsociety@gmail.com.
